My Lips Are On Fire
Allan took me to a Korean restaurant tonight. I'd never had Korean food before. The dish I ordered was beef, vegetables and clear noodles (glass noodles? They were made from sweet potatoes) in a spicy sauce. Allan chose shrimp dumplings. We shared our delicious food and the pickled delicacies that came with it, and cooled our mouths off with OB beer. (Don't be cracking any jokes about tampons. I've covered that base for you).
If I'd had the foresight to take a pen and notebook with me, I'd have taken notes and could provide you with a more detailed description of the food we ate. Sorry: no pen, no notes, just a full tummy and capsicum lips.

Hm? Capsicum lips? Sounds like Australian for "bell peppers"...but after checking the dico, apparantely it's for the entire pepper family: chili, tobasco...anything of the "pod family". Interesting comparison.

Yes, I was also thinking of capsaicin, which is the chemical that produces the hot (burning!) sensation you get when you eat chile peppers. :)

(I couldn't decede, whether to write this in Allan's or your blog, so put it in both)
- Allans description made me real hungry for Korean food - I'd never dined Koreanian (because Korenian Restaurants are still very rare here in Germany & none in Nuremberg), but often yet in Thai restaurants, which is my fave cuisine in the moment - a lot of the Thai Restaurants here are run by Chinese people & are not so original thai, but my thai-friend Peo told me, where the 'real' thai conducted restaurants are - & I like it if it's really chilly red hot.. - that clears your brain & you can can get addict to it

Ali, sometimes I think I'm channeling either you or Allan. When you turn up at IKEA, I'm at IKEA. When you're puttering around Williams-Sonoma, I'm puttering around Williams-Somoma. It's just getting spooky. So when you said you were just eating Korean, I nearly fell off my chair because I just ate Korean (OK, I eat it all the time)
What you had was probably Chop Chae (although the sauce is throwing me off, so perhaps not), it's one of my favorite dishes! We have a fantastic Korean restaurant near my house and I frequent it often. Next time, try the Bolgogi (marinated grilled beef) or perhaps Bibimbab, (rice with beef and veg with a fried egg on top) if they serve it.

They serve all of those dishes, Theresa.
And I think it was the Chop Chae we had.
