Monday Night Football

KIDDING!  No football happening here.  No soccer, either.

Gah!

I had this really funny blog entry written in my head.  Where did it go?

The other day I posted a photo called Cheesy Goodness.  Some folks wanted the recipe for my cheesy goodness zucchini quiche, and I told them "Heh, there IS no recipe."  I can tell you how I made it, but I didn't measure anything.  I'm so bad.  This is why I don't have a food blog, people.  I can't be assed to measure things when I cook.

But here is what I did: I blind-baked a ready-made crust (I can't be assed to make my own crusts these days, either), then I put in some sautéed zucchini/courgette slices.  I topped that with an egg custard (I used 4 eggs, the rest of a bottle of milk, and 4 ounces/125 g of plain yogurt.  Julia Child sort of suggested 1 egg per half cup of milk.  And the French tend to use cream in their quiche).  Then I spread grated comté cheese on top, and baked the thing at about 400°F/200°C until it looked done.  Count at least 30 minutes.

Okay?  So it was really good.  As tasty as it looked in my photo.

This afternoon, Anne told me about a quiche she made.  I think I started drooling as soon as she mentioned the main ingredients.  Anne said "I've been meaning to blog that."  Well, I sure hope she does (and soon!) because I made that quiche tonight, and it was really tasty.

I don't know what's up with my quiche kick.  I suppose it's comfort food.  Well, it's comfort food AND clean-out-yer-fridge food.

Nah.  Right now it's comfort food for me, all the way.

I hear you on the comfort food.

I caved today and went to an Indian buffet for lunch. I ate small portions of a few things, but still...

See, another mention of comfort food! It's not just me these days.

Quiche just settles well on the stomach I think. It's filling, and yet light. I eat it often. I never lurk!
