Pilgrimage. Pilgrimage.
The pilgrimage has gained momentum
Take a turn, take a turn
Take our fortune, take our fortune
Take a turn, take a turn
Take our fortune, take our fortune
I'm singing this because I was thinking of titling this entry "Pilgrimage." We took a turn today -- off the interstates that intersect Cincinnati -- and went to both Trader Joe's AND Jungle Jim's. And no, this has nothing to do with R.E.M.
Although our blogs don't reflect it at the moment, both Allan and I are major foodies. This was just one of the things that drew us together. We both love to cook, photograph, and eat food.
I'd been to Trader Joe's; he hadn't. He'd been to Jungle Jim's; I hadn't.
After lunch we got in the car and drove to Cincinnati.
...
Mmm. I might have to finish this entry later. We shared a bottle of Two Buck Chuck this evening and I seem to have lost my train of thought. Good thing Allan took a photo:
I'll write more about all that is Jungle Jim's later. I guess I'm an official member of the Courtney family now. Actually, you probably shouldn't click that link, because I'm not sure that I can top Mike's description of the Six Acre Store (the siiiiiix acre store, chimes in the chorus).

Oh, how long have I been listening to that R.E.M. song, without knowing what the heck Michael Stipe was saying? I always sang it as:
"Pilgrimage. Escape no mention. Take our time, take our time. Take your fortune, take your fortune."
Thanks for clearing that one up!
I notice the 2Buck Chuck bottle is empty. Is that the first, second, or third bottle you all drank?

I love Jungle Jims! We went there at least once a week. My oldest daughter had so much fun there....we all did.

Glad to know about Jungle Jims. Now I have a real reason to get excited about CinnSINatti besides Kings Island. Glad you shared and had a great time.

I have nothing intelligent to add to this post, I just wanted to mention that I LOVE R.E.M. love them.

I thought of you all morning as I listened to "Prehistoric X" on a local radio show. Echo and the Bunnymen, R.E.M, the Cure, the Cult....memory lane, no?

We make a trip to Trade Joe's periodically. But I've never even heard of Jungle Jims.
Happy Cooking

Haha, nice to know someone else besides me starts blog posts while, er, inebriated and then forgets what the hell they were supposed to be writing about!

I keep getting this annoying error in typeKey comments, and this is me trying to clear it up. Move along, nothing to see here...

Am I the only one changing lyrics to the Gilligan's Island theme here?
A six acre store
A six acre store
Yeah I thought so.

wait...wait...
on top of Jungle Jim's and Trader Joe's there is Graeter's Ice Cream (the absolute world's best), Skyline chili (and all the other variations of Cincinnati-Chili), Ester Price Chocolates, Findley Market, Izzy's Corned Beef... oh man - Cincy is a haven for foodies.
