Le Beaujolais Nouveau, Redux
In which I taste this year's model. And uh, no, it wasn't my first glass.
Last year's video post about the Beaujolais Nouveau. The sound is worse, but I look better.
Edit: Looking back on all my video blogs, I see that this one is MUCH smaller than the others. Time to check back into Dailymotion or YouTube. I just would like to be able to transfer all the videos I made with Audioblog (now Hipcast). Does anybody know if that's possible?

JINX! We both blogged about the same thing at nearly the same time. Heh heh.
I picked up my case after school today, and poured my first glass after dinner. As delightful and crisp as ever, non? ;-)

Very cool tradition, but I don't like wine. Can I use beer instead?

Am so thirsty. Am out of wine. Goodbye cruel world.

Haha, I pick mine out by pretty label quality, too. Last night we had a bottle with a lovely yellow etiquette, couldn't tell you from where, though. Pas mal, as they say around here...

Yay! Alison videos. My video blogging mentor :)
Love the link between Beaujolais wine and the Beaujolais president. I see lots of similarities ;)

I didn't even try it this year. Too much marketing, as you said.

great post!!!
So, you said you chose the one with the better label-- so are there certain wines (limited) that are available for this day, or it is just a celebration with any kind of "new" wine?
Posted by: cmhl | November 17, 2006 at 10:36
cmhl -- Originally this was just for Beaujolais wine. I have heard, however, that other wine regions are putting out a "primeur" wine, too.
The thing about the label is that until very recently, French wine labels were very traditional, except the Beaujolais Nouveau labels. They were always colorful. These days, however, some French winemakers have jumped on the marketing bandwagon with cool names and labels for their wines.
It's kind of a joke for me to choose the wine based on the label, because of course it's no guarantee that the wine will be any good!
